Director of Land Management/Town Planner – Town of Manchester-by-the-Sea

The Town of Manchester is seeking qualified applicants to join our team as the Director of Land Management/Town Planner. The purpose of this full-time position is to direct and perform municipal land use planning functions and provide staff support to the various land use boards and committees. The Director/Town Planner performs a wide range of municipal planning functions and provides review and analysis of development projects, provides technical planning assistance to the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, and the Historic District Commission, coordinates the town’s long range comprehensive planning activities The incumbent is called upon to handle a significant number of details and to approach the workload with flexibility. Successful candidates will possess exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, ability to work with confidential information, and experience with personal computers, including Microsoft Excel & Word, database, and spreadsheet applications. Candidates should have Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Public Administration or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.  A minimum of four years (2 years with a Master’s Degree) experience in municipal planning, professional planning, or related industry; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. The salary for this position is $80,000 – $90,000/DOQ.
