We are seeking an Environmental Planner at junior or mid-level to support our growing Natural Resources and Permitting team primarily in Massachusetts.

The Environmental Planner will be part of an interdisciplinary team working on a wide variety of projects including but not limited to:  ecological restoration, lake/pond/dam improvements, living shorelines, solar siting and development, utility corridor upgrades, waterfront infrastructure, and general site development work in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities in assisting with technical execution of projects under the supervision of project managers:

  • Prepare environmental impact reports
  • Prepare GIS maps
  • Prepare environmental and land use permit applications
  • Present permit application information to regulatory authorities
  • Organize and host community outreach and education events
  • Present project information in public forums
  • Assist in field evaluations to support the above work

Special Skills/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Law, Ecology or related discipline required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3-10+ years’ experience in preparing environmental impact reports and permit applications, development of GIS databases and maps, and public outreach.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear and concise letters, memoranda, technical reports, proposals, and figures.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel locally and regionally for this position. Field work can occur year-round and in all weather conditions.
  • Able to work independently and within a team.
  • Strong time management, coordination, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
