Transportation Planner 2 – Connecticut Department of Transportation

The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT), Bureau of Public Transportation invites individuals to apply for the position of Transportation Planner 2 in the Office of Transit and Ridesharing.

This position will be located within the Transit Districts Unit of the Office of Transit and Ridesharing. The Transportation Planner 2 will oversee the FTA Section 5311 Formula Grants for Rural Areas program including training under the CT Rural Transportation Assistance Program. The Transportation Planner 2 may supervise a Transportation Planner 1 or a Transportation Planner Connecticut Career Trainee and is a working lead position with responsibilities to conduct complex tasks in transportation planning. In this role, the duties include but are not limited to:

· Acting as a liaison between different Federal, State, and Transit District stakeholders;
· Preparing materials to meet the federally required State Management Plan and Triennial Reviews;
· Analyzing financial and operational data, performance statistics and preparing budget and operating reports;
· Carrying out the Intercity Bus Consultation process and coordinating with DOT Capital Services to file for FTA funding grants; and
· Performing on-site Transit System Audits of Rural Transit Districts, reviewing and approving invoices, and providing technical assistance on the Section 5311 program requirements.

We are seeking someone who is proficient with data collection and analysis, has a strong attention to detail, and will rely on this professional to assist with making financial and budget decisions.
