Town of North Kingstown seeks an entry level Planning Technician responsible for work assisting with day-to-day operations of the Planning Department. The individual will assist in plan review, prepare reports, respond to the general public, and conduct studies and analysis relating to a full range of professional planning work in a variety of topic areas. This exciting opportunity is ideal for an individual who can work independently but can also participate as a team player on projects and initiatives.

Interested candidates must enjoy interacting with the general public, have the ability to maintain cooperative relationships, and uphold a pleasant demeanor. Candidates should have at least a bachelor’s degree in community planning, urban affairs, political science, natural resources science, and two (2) years of experience working in a professional environment (or) four (4) years of experience working in a position related to community planning or development (or) an equivalent combination of education and experience. Historic preservation experience a plus. Working knowledge of GIS particularly emphasized.
Salary projected in the range of $58,814 to $62,100, depending on experience, plus benefits.
