Town Planner/Community Development Coordinator – Town of Rutland

The Town of Rutland (pop. 9,600) seeks qualified, experienced and energetic candidates for the full-time position of Town Planner/Community Development Coordinator. The position serves as the community point of contact for coordinating land use, planning, and development activities from application through completion. Rutland is an attractive, fast growing residential community in Worcester County with a rich agricultural history, open space and exciting potential opportunities for economic development.

Duties include managing daily Planning Department functions including zoning, subdivision and other planning and development matters governed by State statute, local bylaws, rules and regulations; providing professional support to the Planning Board, the Town Administrator, and other town boards, committees, and commissions as assigned, and high quality customer service to the public; coordinating and overseeing cross-departmental projects and workflows pertaining to planning and community development, including a streamlined permitting process; researching, applying for, and administering planning and community development-related grants, and overseeing funded projects. Applicants must be able to comprehend and apply zoning statues, bylaws, rules and regulations, and read plans. A Master’s degree in Urban/Regional Planning or related field with 3 years’ experience, or Bachelor’s degree in Urban/Regional Planning or related field, with 5 years’ experience, preferably in a municipality or regional planning entity, is strongly preferred. AICP certification is preferred.

Anticipated salary is $85,000 per year +/- dependent on qualifications. Rutland offers an excellent comprehensive benefits package.
