Town Planner – Town of Saugus

This position focuses on short, intermediate and long-term planning initiatives in the areas of:  land use, housing, commercial/economic development, infrastructure and energy, open space and environmental concerns.  The position supports the work of the Planning and Development Director and will assist the Director in his/her various duties and assignments as they arise, including the preparation of grant applications and the supervision/coordination of planning and other studies. The position also requires management responsibilities for special projects funded by grants and related means.  The position reports directly to the Planning and Development Director and the Town Manager, as appropriate.  Salary range is negotiated depending upon educational levels achieved and directly related experience.

Qualifications:  Minimum 2 years planning and community development or highly related and relevant experience, Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred, in planning, urban development or closely related field.

Regular Office Hours:(M) 8:30-7:00, (Tues-Thurs) 8:15-5:00 and (F) 8:15-12:30 Plus some related evening meetings
