Community & Economic Development Planner – Town of Barnstable 

The Town of Barnstable is seeking qualified candidates for a Community & Economic Development Planner in the Planning & Development Department.  This position will administer the Town’s economic development programs, as well as contribute to long-range and village planning initiatives, and the Town’s Regulatory Planning program and development reviews.

The Town of Barnstable, Massachusetts is a dynamic coastal community with a year-round population of 45,000 and a seasonal peak population of 150,000. Barnstable is a historic municipality comprised of seven distinct villages, including Hyannis, the economic, transportation, and government hub of Cape Cod.  It features 170 miles of coastline and 163 freshwater ponds.

We are seeking a creative, team-oriented, and experienced professional capable of independently managing complex projects, along with partnership-building abilities.  Successful candidates will have experience in planning or a related field, strong public presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in urban or regional planning, public administration, or a related field; and five years of progressively responsible experience in at least one of the following areas: physical planning, comprehensive planning, environmental planning, or community and economic development.  A Master’s degree in one of the above planning fields may be substituted for one (1) years of experience.  $1,592.20 weekly + benefits  Open to Town of Barnstable employees through 8/19/22 and to the Public through 9/5/22.  More information and apply online at www.townofbarnstable.us under Employment.
