The Town of Wellesley Planning Department is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time (35 hours per week) Preservation Planner position. The Planning Department is responsible for various work related to the long-range and current planning of the Town, as well as the administration of Zoning and land use regulations. The Planning Department staffs the Historical Commission, Historic District Commission, and the Denton Road Neighborhood Conservation District Commission in addition to its responsibilities staffing the Planning Board and the Design Review Board as well as working with other Town boards on related work.
The selected candidate will be expected to administer all policies and permitting for the Historical Commission (including applications for the Town’s Demolition Review and Waiver Bylaw), Historic District Commission, and Denton Road Neighborhood Conservation District Commission. Attendance at two evening/night meeting a month will be necessary.
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Preservation Planning, or a related field or equivalent and the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Working knowledge of preservation standards and criteria, applicable laws, and architecture is desired. One-year of experience in municipal planning or a related field or equivalent is preferred. The ability to interact with the public and manage time effectively while prioritizing workflow are a must. The expected hiring range is $60,000 – $68,800 annually.
