The Town of Stratham, NH (population 7,600) is seeking an experienced land use planner for a full-time position beginning immediately.
Stratham is located in the Seacoast region of the state, along the Squamscott River and Great Bay and minutes from the New Hampshire coastline. Located 50 miles north of Boston, MA and 30 miles east of Manchester, NH it is accessible to the myriad of cultural, educational and recreational resources of the Northeast. Stratham residents are proud of the Town’s quality of life, “close knit” feel and excellent schools as well as its highly regarded municipal services, including park and recreational offerings.
Incumbent would join a new senior management team in a vibrant community that consistently supports high quality local services. The Town’s 2019 master plan outlines an updated community vision with emphasis on the Town’s existing extensive open space and natural resources assets and linkages, historic landscapes and structures; and economic development consistent with its rural character.
Duties include providing professional staff support to the Planning Board and coordinating work of other Land Use boards; review and comment on various development proposals; leadership in special planning projects; interaction and coordination with all Town departments, federal, state, and regional agencies, the general public, and community groups. A successful applicant will be able to perform critical analysis of complex issues in a fast paced environment in a timely manner.
A Bachelors Degree in Planning, civil engineering, urban affairs, public administration, or related field from an accredited college with 3-5 years of related experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to fulfill the published job description will be considered. Excellent oral and written communication skills along with organizational abilities are required.
