The City of Beverly seeks an Associate Planner. The Associate Planner is involved with, and at times leads, long-range plans, grant management, technical assistance, and other projects in a dynamic and supportive planning office. These include (but are not limited to): implementing a new Master Plan, and Historic Preservation Plan; participating in the development of a Joint Climate Action Plan with Salem; supporting the City’s growing arts and culture economy; and developing zoning amendments. City Administrative commitments that the Planning Department supports include: creating housing opportunities and reducing regional homelessness; setting aggressive greenhouse gas targets and transitioning to 100% clean energy sources; and taking actions to counteract systemic racism. This position typically staffs the Design Review Board and at least one other board. We balance board assignments and projects in the office among 5 professional staff and try to match staff’s personal interests and expertise.
This position provides varying levels of technical and administrative support to several City land use boards and the public, in addition to performing directed studies and research at the request of the Director and Assistant Director of Planning & Development.
