Seeking Two (2) Remote Fall Interns

The Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC) is seeking two (2) qualified interns to assist in several projects of a diverse nature. Undergraduate seniors and/or Master’s level students in programs such as environmental studies, community development and planning, geography, public administration, political science or another related field are encouraged to apply. The internship is exclusively remote and interns should have reliable internet access and feel comfortable working independently with regular check-ins from supervising staff. Each intern will have the chance to participate in regional and municipal planning work for housing, zoning, economic development, and data services. This internship is a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with a dynamic team on a variety of exciting projects including master plans, housing productions plans, zoning bylaw amendments, economic development studies, remote public engagement activities, open space and recreation studies, construction project monitoring, grant administration support, website and report design, and field work for housing, income, and/or slum and blight surveys. Particular skills sought include good communication skills, familiarity with MS Office and Adobe Creative Cloud, data collection and analysis, and overall organization. This position is running approximately 12-14 weeks from September to December 2020. Rate is $13.00/hour and interns are expected to work 12-15 hours per week.

Seeking One (1) Public Affairs Intern for Fall Semester

The Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC) is seeking one (1) qualified intern to assist in several projects of a diverse nature. Undergraduate seniors and/or Master’s level students in programs such as business and finance, public administration, marketing, communications, or another related field are encouraged to apply. This position will be approximately 75% remote, but will require up to 4 hours per week in administrative duties on-site. The office is highly COVID-19 conscious with aggressive social distancing and frequent sanitizing. Parking will be provided.  This position offers significant potential for expansion to full-time employment for the right candidate.

This internship is a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with a dynamic team on a variety of exciting projects related to municipal services and public affairs. Tasks may include content creation across multiple social media platforms, strategizing to enhance social media presence of CMRPC, content creation for the monthly newsletter, utilization of graphic design tools to enhance the CMRPC Annual Report, grant administration, assistance with filing, and additional duties as necessary. Particular skills sought include good writing, editing, and communication skills, graphic design experience, familiarity with a variety of social media platforms, MS Office and Adobe Creative Cloud, and overall organization. This position is running approximately 12-14 weeks from September to December 2020. Rate is $13.00/hour and interns are expected to work 12-15 hours per week.
