The APA National Planning Conference is Coming to Boston in 2021!

As many of you know – and perhaps some of you don’t – the APA National Planning Conference (NPC) is being held again in Boston in 2021.  The conference will be held on May 1-4, 2021 at the Hynes Convention Center.  This is a great opportunity for our local Planning community to showcase the great communities in Massachusetts and throughout New England.  We hope you begin making plans to attend, and if so inclined, help with planning NPC 21.

A Local Host Committee has been formed and is in the early stages of planning for the conference. The Local Host Committee is responsible for organizing Orientation Tours, Mobile Workshops, Special Events, the Planner’s Guide and the Community Planning Assistance Workshop.  We take our direction from APA National and have had some preliminary conversations with APA about the Boston conference.  We expect that following the APA Conference in Houston, planning for NPC 21 in Boston will ramp up considerably.

The NPC 21 Local Host Committee leadership team consists of:

Scott Turner, AICP, Local Host Committee Chair (sdt@envpartners.com)
Angela Cleveland, AICP, President, Massachusetts Chapter (aclevelandaicp@gmail.com)
Neil Angus, AICP, Local Host Committee Activities/Guide Coordinator (neilangus@devensec.com)
Kristina Johnson, AICP, Local Host Committee Orientation Tours Coordinator (kjohnson99@gmail.com)
Bob Mitchell, FAICP, Advisor (mitchellfaicp@gmail.com)
Ralph Willmer, FAICP, Local Host Committee Mobile Workshops Coordinator (RWillmer@mapc.org)

Our planning for NPC 21 is still in the preliminary stages.  Most immediately, we are focusing on staffing the Massachusetts booth at NPC 20 in Houston.  The purpose of this booth is to generate interest and excitement for the Boston conference.  If you are headed to Houton this April and are interested in helping with the booth, please contact myself or any of the leadership team listed above.

We will be following up with periodic updates and requests for volunteers as our planning progresses.  In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to me or any other member of the leadership team with any questions.

Looking forward to working with you on NPC21!!

Scott Turner, AICP
