The Assistant Town Planner will work directly under the supervision of the North Providence Town Planner and interface with many of the Town’s departments. Additional responsibilities will include working with developers to ensure integrity of future Town developments, direct the Town’s role in the Community Development Block Grant program a division of the State of Rhode Island Office of Housing and Community Development.
The newly-created position of Assistant Town Planner will meet with the Mayor and Town Council periodically to suggest best practices for the Town on proposed and existing developments while possessing a sound understanding of zoning regulations and other land use principals.
A bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies or a related major with experience in municipal planning is required as well as a valid driver’s license and knowledge of GIS mapping, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point applications.
The Assistant Town Planner is a full-time position, with a benefits package including medical and a salary of $60,000 to $70,000 per year, depending on experience. The Town of North Providence will also entertain a part-time position with an agreed-upon hourly rate.
