Works with staff and stakeholders to communicate complex information related to the environment, economy, infrastructure planning, coastal resilience, housing and other regional issues. Ability to visualize data, prepare public presentations and create graphic media. Supports public education through media outlets and by addressing local and regional officials and community groups. Ability to manage projects, plan, organize, analyze problems, formulate recommendations, and prepare reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of public and private groups including elected officials. Works directly with Executive Director.
Requires superior communication, organization, writing, public presentation and graphics skills, and independent judgment and initiative. Bachelor’s degree in economics, communications, graphic design, public administration, regional or urban planning, or related field plus three to five years of experience at the local, regional or state level; master’s degree preferred; combination of private and public sector experience desirable; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Community Design Planner

Works collaboratively with public officials and staff in providing comprehensive community design, graphic design, and visualization products and services and in the development of new regional tools for engaging communities on regional and local issues. Assists Planning Department with development and implementation of targeted planning efforts. Interprets planning documents and regulations accurately; prepares reports, plans, and visualizations; formulates recommendations on a wide range of planning subjects.
Requires superior communication, organization, writing, project management, and graphic/design skills. Bachelor’s Degree in planning, urban design, landscape architecture/design, or related field and three years of experience in land-use planning or design-related field; master’s degree preferred; one or more years of experience in long-range planning or regional planning preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in the Adobe Suite and 3D modeling tools preferred.
