MVP Regional Coordinator- Contractor – Exec Office Of Energy and Environmental Affairs

The Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness grant program (MVP) provides support for cities and towns in Massachusetts to begin the process of planning for climate change resiliency and implementing priority projects. The state awards communities with funding to complete vulnerability assessments and develop action-oriented resiliency plans. Communities who complete the MVP program become certified as an MVP community and are eligible for MVP Action grant funding and other opportunities. The MVP Program Regional Coordinator(s) will work directly city and town officials to support communities through the MVP process and ensure coordination between communities and EEA in advancing climate resilience projects. This position will work closely with EEA staff to implement grant programs, technical assistance, and other services. The MVP Coordinator will be responsible for a specific region of MVP communities. Positions will be located in the following regions: Berkshires, Western/Pioneer Valley, Central, Northeastern, and Southeastern Massachusetts.  Specific location to be determined.  6 positions are available. Currently, we are specifically looking to fill positions in the central and western part of the state.

Detailed Summary of Duties:

Project Management: Support MVP communities in designated region in cultivating adaptation and resilience projects utilizing climate change projections, implementing planning and action grants and providing regular and detailed progress updates to EEA including budgets and performance metrics.

Community Outreach: Support all communities in designated region in achieving MVP designation. Lead program presentations and provide updates on MVP program opportunities to MVP communities and communities that are not yet certified. Educate communities on updated climate change projections that should be used for planning, and tools and resources available through EEA and the MVP network for advancing adaptation action such as maps, design guidelines, and best practices. Organize and serve as point of contact for ongoing MVP education through webinars, trainings and other venues.

Technical Support: Provide technical support to MVP communities on utilizing climate change projections, future flood maps, and resilience design guidelines (among other tools) in vulnerability planning and on developing and implementing climate resilience projects.

Program and Network Development: Work closely with other MVP program coordinators and EEA staff to continuously improve MVP program and available resources.

This is a Contract position from May 1, 2019 through April 1, 2021, however it may be extended to a long term contract position.
