Planning & Economic Development Coordinator – Town of Barnstable

The Town of Barnstable is seeking a Planning & Economic Development Coordinator to join the Planning & Development Department.  This position will be responsible for leading economic development initiatives, specifically planning projects and regulatory reforms to promote business investment, job growth, and housing production.  This position also offers the unique opportunity to play a lead role in updating Barnstable’s Local Comprehensive Plan to include current policies that promote balanced economic sustainability, with resource protection and capital infrastructure needs.

The Town of Barnstable, Massachusetts is a dynamic coastal community with a year-round population of 45,000 and a seasonal population of 150,000. Barnstable is a historic municipality comprised of seven distinct villages, including Hyannis, the economic, transportation, and government hub of Cape Cod.

We are seeking a creative, team-oriented, and experienced professional capable of independently managing complex projects and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.  Successful candidates will have advanced planning experience, strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Candidates must have a four year college degree in business or public administration, finance, economics, planning or a related field and five years professional experience in economic/business development program administration, community development or related area.  Preferred minimum ten years hands on experience in a similar position or in private sector.  Preferred Master’s in Business Administration or Urban Planning. Or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills. $1500.36 weekly plus benefits ($78018.72 annually).
