Planning Director – Town of Danvers

The Town of Danvers (pop. 27,000) seeks an innovative, detail-oriented individual to join the Land Use and Community Services Team as the Planning Director.

 The ideal candidate should be innovative and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple high-priority assignments and experienced in highly visible/controversial projects. The candidate must be fully committed to providing service excellence to every person who visits, works, or resides in the Town of Danvers by embodying the organization’s five core values: inclusion, integrity, accountability, positivity, and collaboration.

 The Planning Director supervises and participates in advanced, highly-complex professional planning activities and functions as the most senior planner within the Planning Office.  The Planning Director is expected to have expertise in economic development, as well as, planning. This position reports to the Director of Land Use and Community Services.

 This position requires a master’s degree in urban planning, public administration, or a related field and a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible planning experience.  Generally, four years of experience must be in a supervisory capacity. AICP Certification is required, or ability to obtain certification within one year.  Preference may be given to applicants possessing qualifications above these minimums.  This is 40-hour full time position involving numerous regular evening meetings with various town boards and committees.  With an expected annual salary range of $68,792.00 – $88,351.00.
