The Town of Westford is seeking applicants for a full-time Town Planner. Working independently and under the general direction of the Director of Land Use Management, this exempt position provides dedicated professional, administrative and technical assistance to the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals, and support as needed to other town committees including the Affordable Housing Committee and the Historical Commission. Assists and advises persons seeking interpretation of the Town’s Zoning Bylaws and Subdivision Regulations; responds to inquiries on planning, zoning, affordable housing matters; conducts research and analysis of zoning changes; and participates in comprehensive planning and other special planning projects. Provides grant writing, implementation and monitoring support to the Permitting Department.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or a related field is required with 3 years of experience in a municipal planning operation. Masters Degree and/or AICP certification preferred. Applicants should have thorough knowledge of local zoning bylaws, regulations and applicable state statutes, rules and regulations; and be able to read site/subdivision plans. Additionally, advanced organizational skills and excellent customer service, written, speaking and communication skills are required. GIS experience is a plus. Must have a valid MA driver’s license. Starting salary low to mid $70k’s/dependent on qualifications.
