ASSISTANT PLANNER (Full-time, 37.5 hours/week)

The Town of Westford seeks applicants for a full-time Assistant Planner. This benefitted position reports to the Director of Land Use Management (DLUM) and works under the general direction of the Town Planner and Conservation Resource Planner. This position provides administrative and technical assistance to the Conservation Commission, Planning Board and Board of Appeals.  Duties include review and processing of applications for completeness, maintaining project files, preparing legal notices, preparing draft decisions and forms, site inspections, responds to public inquiries, research, and other duties as may be assigned by the DLUM, Conservation Resource Planner and Town Planner.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Environmental or a related field and 2 years of professional experience in a municipal setting are required.  Proficiency with personal computers; experience using the entire Microsoft Office Suite; some experience with Geographic Information Systems is desirable.  Additionally, strong organizational, customer service, writing and speaking skills are required.  Applicants must have a valid driver’s license. The starting salary is $65,214 per year.
