Transportation and Land Use Planner, Southern Maine

Southern Maine Planning and Development Commission, a progressive and busy organization serving thirty-nine communities and between the White Mountains and Maine’s southern coast, seeks a junior level Transportation and Land Use Planner. Primary duties include project management, transportation committee support and tasks included in the Kittery Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) work plan. The staff person will also assist with municipal comprehensive plans, data review and research, land use ordinances and amendments, and help conduct reviews of development applications for Planning Boards. Candidate should be organized in time management, be able to work on multiple projects and have the ability to work either independently or with teams and willing to travel within the district for night meetings. Familiarity with GIS software and InDesign is also desired. Minimum requirements: Master’s degree in planning or related field, or bachelor’s degree with two years of experience.
