LAND USE DIRECTOR/TOWN PLANNER

The Town of Groton is seeking a qualified Land Use Director/Town Planner.  Responsibilities involve managing the administrative and supervisory aspects of town planning, and coordinating the operations of all Land Use Departments including the Planning Board, Conservation Commission, Building/Zoning Enforcement, Board of Health, Zoning Board of Appeals, Housing Coordinator and Historic District Commission.  This position will coordinate implementation of short and long-range physical, social, and economic development and improvement plans for the Town. This position oversees all town land use permitting and provides professional support to members of the community as needed. Responsibilities include coordinating the activities of all Land Use Boards, mediating competing interests, and leveraging local, regional, state and federal resources, both public and private, to achieve Groton’s planning objectives.

Experience in land use and municipal planning combined with strong leadership and communication skills. A Master’s degree in planning or related field with 3 years’ experience or a Bachelor’s degree in planning or related field with 5 years’ experience in land use or municipal planning and supervisory experienced required. Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is preferred.

Salary range:  $66,649 – $82,475 based on experience
